Nice, clean, felt safe

This hotel was very nice. Easy to access. Close to additional food options and shopping. Rooms were clean and I was happy that I chose a room w/microwave and mini fridge. Made it easy for me to have my tea so quickly each morning. Will definitely pick this hotel next we are in the area.

Tell me you don't like kids, without telling me you don't like kids

Our rather large group had a less than wonderful experience at this hotel over this past weekend. Upon booking our 12 (group) rooms, we spoke with the person who was booking the group rooms and told them we had a large group that was coming for a basketball tournament and requested to watch the NBA All Star contests on the TV. She said that would not be a problem and even offered the use of the conference room on premises to accomodate our group. The person at the desk however, was very rude and disrespectful. She refused to put the NBA contest on the TV in the lobby lounge or allow us to use the conference room as promised. She also called the police on our group for "excessive noise". There were times that multiple children were running around the hotel and being loud, our parents addressed those kids each time (even if they didn't belong to our group). There were also other family and kid groups in the hotel at the same time and they were not addressed even though they could easily have also been contributing to the noise. This was also occurring at 7-8pm and NOT quiet hours. The desk person never addressed any noise complaint with any adult in our group and the majority of our group was chatting, eating and talking in the lobby lounge watching basketball. Yes, there were also some alcoholic beverages present but not one single person was intoxicated or unruly in the adult group. Tell me that your business doesn't want kid groups in the future without really telling me, because our group travels for tournaments frequently, and we will never use another Best Western for our travels after our experience here.

We understand how important it is to have a positive environment, especially during a group stay for such an exciting event, and we apologize for the inconveniences you and your group faced.
Regarding the issues you mentioned, we sincerely regret the miscommunication about the NBA All-Star contest (unfortunately we were dealing with a tv issue in our breakfast room which was not allowing us to change channels which maintenance has now fixed) and the use of the conference room the tv does not have cable in there it would have needed to be hooked up to another device, and while available I was not informed that anyone was requesting to use the room when the desk clerk called me or I would have approved such. We always aim to accommodate our guests' requests whenever possible, and we will ensure that clearer communication is provided in the future. We also apologize if the staff member's behavior seemed rude or disrespectful; this is not the experience we want for our guests, and we will address this internally to ensure this does not happen again.
We understand that noise levels in public spaces can be challenging, particularly with large groups. We do our best to balance the comfort of all guests, including other families and individuals in the hotel. We apologize if this wasn’t handled in a way that met your expectations, and we appreciate your feedback as it helps us improve our services.
We value all of our guests and want them to feel welcome, whether traveling for business, leisure, or events. We are truly sorry that your experience has led you to reconsider staying with us in the future. We will take your comments into account as we continue to improve our services and ensure that all guests have a positive and enjoyable stay.

The sheets were very thin and the pillows need replacing. The girl at the front desk was not very nice and told us that we would have to stay else where if my service animal barked. Do you think he would qualify as a service animal if he barked when outside the home?

I can't comment on the surroundings of the property because it was a last minute booking, suggested by google as close enough to the highway. The room was spacious, linens clean, bed comfortable. The bathroom was clean, but a large crack in the sink almost cut it in two. Strange. But I didn't stay long enough to matter. Breakfast was ok. Staff courteous.

Minor disappointment on this visit. Not quite up to usual excellent standards due to no internet service.

Use this property most times when visiting family in State College area. Typically excellent experience and good value. Clean, well appointed rooms. Property is well maintained and furniture & facilities up-to-date. Comfortable room with no noise issues at night. Breakfast selections are nice and hot & fresh. Staff is very professional and friendly.
The only real issue encountered on this trip was lack of WiFi internet service. Apparently it would be several days before this could be addressed due to our stay falling on Sunday.
Other than Wi-Fi issue, still highly recommend this hotel for value and location away from the fray in State College itself.
