What a magical place
The hostel has a rustic feel and cozy spaces. You can sit on the deck or in the front area and take it all in. Highly recommend.
The bed was comfortable with a little light and a storage area. Caveat that there was only one charger strip per room. They were able to reserve a lower bunk for me. Bathroom was pretty basic but relatively clean.
The included breakfast was huge and filling: yogurt, muesli, cheeses, fruit, cheese and even an apple pastry in a bowl of custard.
There are no kitchen facilities, just a small fridge, utensils and microwave. Most people eat supermarket ramen for dinner. I paid 20 CHF for a big dinner of veggie chili and fixins. Worth it to me. They will also prepare fondue for you.
The walk from the train station is not that bad if you go start at the end of the train line (not Grindelwald Grund).
I would love to stay here again.
